Good health is essential for a family to survive. 45% of the country live in poverty. The poorer you are, the more likely you are to suffer from preventable disease. Thousands of children under the age of 5 die each year in Burkina Faso from the effects of poverty and non existent healthcare.
As in many developing countries, education tends to favour males. Women are not actively encouraged to become better educated, and in rural communities where daily survival is the priority, there is no perceived need even if the opportunity for education was available
As Christians we believe that God is interested in the whole person, body, mind and spirit. The Church is not a building - it's a community of people who believe Jesus has changed their lives. Together they can work to serve the village in whatever way necessary
